I strongly recommend an LSD if you're looking for 200bhp+, although perhaps in Greece it's not as much an issue as here in England with our greasy roads!

 

I don't think of an LSD for now,I am thinking of leaving it as is for now,it runs on stock boost.I am satisfied for now,although it tends to torque steer,and and an LSD would be an ideal solution.But I don't believe I need it for now.Thank you very much for your suggestion :) And believe me...our roads are crap too!Not only slippery,but also bumpy and with HUGE holes...unfortunatelly it is better to own a SUV! lol.

 

What sort of engine spec is it? Any idea on BHP so far?

 

I'm not overly keen on the cut-out bumper, I think it needs a bigger intercooler to pull off that look, but it's nice to see someone still modifying a MK5. Don't see many 5dr Escorts with turbo power either!

 

It runs on a 1.6 CVH with a T25 Garrett on 0.5 boost.It is stock standard Fiesta RS turbo engine.Keep in mind that was 1.4 cfi before,so i am really pleased with the result...I don't look for more power for now,since more power would help for max speed,but i don't need it for now.It has very good acceleration,at least it covers my needs for now.It is a daily runner too,and I didn't want big turbo lag etc...Stock RST power is 130bhp as ford announces,so I guess it is somewhere around there,no dyno'd for now.About the front bumper,i much prefered a smaller cut out,but I wanted a way for incoming air in front,mostly to keep it cool in the hot summers here in Greece.We have temps up to 40-42 degrees of C.

I love mk5's,they look good.I don't want something crying out loud,but i am tired of some pricks with scirrocos and Golf...No prob with the cars,ok,the are new,but some drivers think they are the kings of the road m8,and don't show respect to older cars.Well,I have to tell you,I have laughed maaaaaaaaaaaaaany times with my old Escy ;) In my place also there are only 3 rst powered escorts,and the other 2 are mk2 engined,not efi.

Hello people.It is ages since I've been on line in here,but after some long time with difficulties I am here.I was unemployed for a long time,and so the car was second in my priorities,since I had to cope with a few earnings and keep up with my obligations.I almost gave away the car for scrap :-( :-( Thank God,this never happened,i love it,despite it's years and it's downfalls.But enough with the talking,here are some pics.Not major improvements or add ons,further a new-used gearbox from an xr3i since the old one from the 1.4 engine left from this world,making some nasty noises :-p I think that this gearbox suits better the car's character.I also installed an innovate wideband for ease of mind and realtime monitoring of the AF ratio...

I also installed a set of new Bilsteins B12 complete with springs.The car sat much more level than before and it's behaviour on the road improved after installing the RS200 rear ARB too.Here she is as she stands now:

Last but not least,I purchased and installed a set of front and rear RS2000 brakes.

Excuse the dirt,the photos are after installing,and I am going to do a thorough wash and polish just after I finish my next project,which is the installation of an AC.It has some difficulties,since mine never intended to have one,and I can;t find parts here in Greece for mk5b,I use the complete system of a mk6.Also my car has not PAS and such as I must find ways to solve the problem with the pulleys and the tensioner.I also have some problems with the IC and the boost hoses routing,but first things first ;-) Ι allready have started the project,facia removed,etc etc...I will post some pics on the completion of the project.Feel free to say your opinions,good or bad,all welcome :-)

Hello James,how are you mate?Well,to be precise I am still out of work,but I occasionaly do some to a few customers from my old one.It is just not permanent,.Yes,I love it,so many years,so many experiences and feelings about it.I will keep it as long as it is not falling apart on the road :-p I allready fixed some rust on the rear arch and the trunk door last March,and everything is fine now.It's clear for now,we don't use salt on roads here thank God,unless very rare occasions.But even after it rust completely,I have a Sierra to play with,but for now it is used by my father mostly as a family car,so I can't turbo it for now if you get me ;) He is a calm and quiet driver :-p

 

i hate that style of bonnet with an unmitigated passion! i would have to change it for a mk5a front. otherwise its lookin sick man

Yeah,with all this I have done now to the car,it i snot my preference too,I would love a cossie bonnet with vents,but i don't like it on a five door.I could use a mk5a indeed,I prefer it too,but here in Greece,since they are not too easy to find them,they sell them 300-400 pounds equivalent to your currency,and it needs painting too!Lol.So I am not keen on paying such an amount for a bonnet,I prefer to spend it on other things on my car.Although I always have it in my mind,it's 4 years that I am thinking of replacing it :-)

Thought to update this thread...just today I took the car back from my mechanic.I am installing airconditioning,since here in Greece at summer the ambient temperatures can climb up to 40 degrees.Since mk5's wasn't equipped with airconditioning,(well that is really rare here),I always wanted to install one but I didn;t want to self improvise and destroy the chassis,neither I wanted to pay another car on parts.So after some searching,I bought an evaporator and the piping form a mk6 and fabricated a kind of bracket to bolt the compressor on the CVH.I had no PAS,so I had to use the factory alternator with polyvee pulley,crankshaft pulley,tensioner and the fabricated bracket to hold the compressor.All the fascia came out to cut a hole on the firewall for the air recycling,and everything went back after that as they should.Ford had mark the area to be cut away,so I allready had the pattern for the cut.I need to short the wiring for the aircondition to work,and i also need the centre louvre heating panel replaced,since mine never had the extra positions for the fan switch,so now it is not corresponding to the position of the heater blower switch.If anyone have a fascia for a LHD mk5 Escort with a/c I would greatly apreciate it,since I can not find anything here...Pics are following

Excuse the dirty engine room,it is after one week to the garage with raining almost every day.Car needs a thorough cleaning inside-out and a good hoovering.But all these after setting the a/c loom and connecting everything as they should be...

good work georgio, have loads of respect for this car :cheers: imagine it must be suffocating driving around in the heat in Greece with no a/c

 

Thank you very much... :cheers: indeed,under these circumstances you can't drive. :censored: :vangry: Especially on long trips it is necessary.You can't go everywhere with the windows down,especially on highways...so while I wanted to take the car for a drive,I always had to think twice...not anymore... :thumb:

Hello people...I took her for a morning drive today,just after a wash,(ofcourse it rained after an hour,classic, :censored: :vangry: :curse: ),and couldn't resist taking a pic and share it with you...I am beggining to think that perhaps I must take it to my home and park it beside my bed :P :D
