Posted February 23, 201113 yr thought i would put it here so more people see it but if mods want to move it to the mechanical thread its fine by me i need some help with this one as i cant work out what im missing !!!! car was sat for a year & started every month or so & drove up & down to stop the breaks seizing. i was asked if i wanted to by it by my mates dad when i called round one day as the sills need replacing & the front springs ( at least) for the mot . so we agree a price & the car is mine & towed it to work & it sat there for another 3 months with the battery disconnected . ive put a battery of a td mondeo on the car & it wont start ??? turns over but wont fire up ive checked evrything i can think of & my mate has had a quick look but still nothing !!!! there is fuel at the injectors, glow plugs seem fine (even had them on a seperate battery ) relays click , plug light goes out ,alarm light goes out ,we have even tried 24v starting incase the starter wasnt spinning fast enough !!!! still nothing what other ideas have you got as the only thing i can think of is dragging it down the road (maybe to the metal recyclers !!! ) & trying to bump start it ??? i want it running so i can get it to the mot place & see how much work needs doing ( if its worth doing ) cheers
February 23, 201113 yr Author nope that is what i cant work out as i first thought the immobilizer had kicked in . then thought if it had then there would be no fuel at the injectors & the starter wouldnt turn over . we even tried easy start in desperation but nothing !!!! trying to get hold off a mates mate with a diagnostic machine to plug it in to see if anything comes up ??? it seems to be a common problem after changing fuel filters or the cold weather killing batterys & glow plugs going down but they have not been touched & are fine !!!!
February 23, 201113 yr have you got fuel at the pump and at the injectors? also worth whipping the cam cover off to check you don't have a smashed camshaft - very common failure
