February 24, 201113 yr It depends on too many factors. There isn't a single figure. You're best to measure the valve to piston clearance and make an informed decision from there.

I still not receive the head. But my plan is Zetec 2.0 bottom and CVH head with CVH33 kent cam with stock or bigger valve if possible.Thank you.
February 24, 201113 yr Author Putting a Zetec bottom end on it, is that to make the bottom end stronger? Sorry i dont understand you.You think about no difference between bottoms 1.6 CVH and 2.0 Zetec?
February 24, 201113 yr putting a zetec bottom end on a cvh can make it stronger but also releases more power! good for turbo'd engines unsure about zvh N/A tuning! also kent cams i've heard wear out fast! and seriously damage the engine if worn too much! also you got to consider if the head has been skimmed before! check! skimming it twice will no doubt be the max, unsure how much that is in thou but ask the machinist
February 25, 201113 yr I'm sure the zetec bottom end is to increase the displacement...... SLEEMAN- there is no default skim amount.. you usually skim a head 'to clean', which can by any amount.
February 25, 201113 yr Yeah but i don't see the point in a CVH head on top, just put the whole Zetec lump in and be done with it. No, Kent Cams are bloody brilliant, we know them very well and Del is a genius. He's made us some brilliant cams. Edited February 25, 201113 yr by Ahmotorsport
February 25, 201113 yr well i've heard other stories of kent and piper cams wearing out too fast, and severely damaging engines and even rebuilt engines, its the same with zetec cams as well, newman cams i hear are far better design and last longer!
February 25, 201113 yr Don't believe all you hear on other forums, SLEEMAN CVH engines have always been horrible to camshafts.. I've never seen a Zetec cam wear, in comparison.
February 25, 201113 yr its not just stories stu, its real life, a couple of people on the fiestaturbo site have had em and shown how bad they are worn. i think one of them is taking kent to court and sueing over severe engine damage as he rebuilt his turbo'd engine and when he done all the proper wearing in procedures etc and after a few thousand miles the engine wasn't running right and loosing power, he stripped it to find the lobes of the cams worn badly and further stripped the engine to find other parts badly damaged, and the engine was rebuilt by professionals. but who knows whats going on with kent and piper. i'll be buying newman cams
February 25, 201113 yr I've seen it happen too. I've also seen it happen due to lack of oil pressure. Edited February 25, 201113 yr by Stu
February 25, 201113 yr true as well about the oil pressure, but we're talking about a fully rebuilt engine with brand new parts i highly doubt that could be the cause but i've seen the pictures theres no lobes on it at all lol!

I wonder how many of them bothered to check the oil pressure? There's a lot of cowboy engine builders out there!
