Hi peeps, looking for instructions in what to do next. Background - rs2k overheating, coolant pressure dropped by 3 psi when was set up to 10psi in not very long. I've been told water pump or headgasket the later I'm assuming but looking for advice as to what to do to check for certain.

If it's head gasket it will almost certainly lose water. Look for HC's in the cooling system if you have the kit to do so?

I don't but someone I know might is there another way just incase? Thanks for reply

You might also want to check the oil for signs of the coolant, any mayo around the oil filler capper or when you pull the dipstick out?

 

How fast are you losing coolant? I guess there are no puddles underneath the car? Tried replacing the expansion cap?

Do a sniff test on the coolant, should test for carbon gasses in the coolant

What I'll do is get the other known issues sorted then I'll get a mot station to use the emissions tester on the coolant

nah no sign atall in the oil :S coolant level is dropping but I've only just moved the car to a solid surface but there's no obvious leaks

could be an air lock mate is the rad getting hot when its up to temp? and is the coolant returning back through the overflow to the header tank?

Have you had it up to running temp?
