Hi all i am having issues with the electrics in my GTi, at first the rear window heater swith was constantly illuminated, now along side this when i lock my car via the key fob (fitted with a toad alarm) - rather than it bleeping and the indicators flashing once or twice the doors just silently lock and the alarm dosent arm itself. Also the interior light has started coming on when the switch is set for it to come on with the door open and my fog light is constantly illuminated with the lights switched on. Finally if the lights are switched on even with all doors closed and secure, the buzzer will sound asif the lights are on without ignition and the door open....

baffled!

Please help

The first part concerning the rear heater the the later part concerning the foglight indicates earthing issue's in most cases, however how that all tie's into your alarm issues is beyond me as i have no way of knowing how your toad is wired in.

That said, the door open alarm trigger on most alarm systems takes its signal from the interior light illumination (meaning that if the light comes on when a door is opened and the alarm is still active the alarm go's off) which means the issues with your alarm system could also be a earth issue, which in theory can cause alsorts of peculiar symptoms, including the issues you described.

Either wether your alarm issues are a seperate matter or directly linked to the earth issue I mentioned, Id strongly suggest you take it to a autosparky to be 100% sure and to identify the offending issue.

Its always chirped until these electrical symptoms got worse, ill hang around until the weekend and give it a go cleaning all the earthing points on it and see what happens..cheers
