Cooling Fan Switch

Hi,

 

Right, im informed by the previous owner that the cooling fan on the XR3i doesn't come on when the engine gets too hot, i guess down to a faulty switch not cutting the fan in correctly.

 

A - sound about right?

B - what is the actaual term for the 'cooling switch'?! As when i try to find one on the net i get not very far!
