Forest
As title says, log book says 1.6 check vin numbers same as log book, oringinal bill of sale from ford dealer says 1.8 fills like it pulls like a 1.8 as i have driven another 1.6 and seems slower in acceleration. Check for markings on head cant find anyting to tell. Any help please
marshy
it should say on the airbox on a little sticker, unless its worn off..do a reg check on dvla site.. i reckon tho the dealerships filled bill of sale incorrectly if your log book vin matches.. etrebus
look down the back of the engine (from underneath)there will be 1.8 or 1.6 cast in the block, vin numbers are not engine numbers ,old fords used to have the same chassis number as engine but not these days
escort4x4
Or have a look at the plastic upper timing belt cover if its still there and its original it will state 1.6 or 1.
SteveB
or look at the engine serial number on the front face of the block. The first 3 letters are the engine type.
