Changing Stereo

Had a Merc SL or CLK in work the other day to have a head unit changed as it was the original tape deck and 6 disk in dash stacker,

 

Problem is, its got a fully amplified BOSE system, meaning there are no off the shelf parts the we can order in to do the work.

 

Now the guy has offered for me to do it at home however, using google to find a solution does not bring up any help as the phrase:

"changing a mercedes fully amplified bose head unit solution" and equal variants is a bit long winded and turns up nothing usefull.

 

Anybody had any experience with these systems and know how to change them and being able to retain the amplified setup?
