Jordan99940
what is suspect is that it is a 1.4 and i only thought they done 1.6's after 98? you get cars that are made when within production but you know don't actually sell/get registered till the date of said plate
JC
is it me, but what is that engine??? with that air box? Have seen a 1.3 escort hatchback once on an 02 plate, but they are rare!

Bilee
It's a PTE engine. 08/95 onwards, I think.
scottg17
It's a PTE engine. 08/95 onwards, I think. Which is just a CVH with EFII've seen loads of van on 02 platesI know the van came with the 1.4 petrol but I was always aware the that the escort hatch/estate/saloon finished at X reg, there were a few Y plated ones as well just to clear off the old stocks. Maybe its an end of the line special thrown together with what ever parts are laying around just like the T reg belladonna purple ghia saloon that runs about local to me. Its got every option ticked down to the walnut steering wheel and the headlight protectors Edited August 19, 2011 by scottg17
Craig855S
Starting bid £950...Hahahahahaa The 1.4PTE is worse on fuel than the 1.6 (and i found worse than the 1.8 too) and that interior is horrid. It may be a good chassis/body to use as a base though instead of piling money into a late nineties car that's rotten underneath. As for the reason its an 02 plate, it was either stored somewhere unregistered for a few years, or someone reshelled their car into a new chassis after a big smash (A mate of mine done this to an Astra, wrote an almost new astra off whilst drunk so insurance obviously wouldnt pay, he got a new chassis from vauxhall along with a couple of panels, used the rest of the origional car to make a complete car again, and that car registered on the latest plate at the time, even though the reg on the chassis he wrote off was a year or so old)

lee grout
Never seen an escort past 2000 reg ( as someone else said quite rare!) But that does look like a cvh engine. I thought the zetec replaced all cvh/zvh engines. why has such a new car (new for an escort) got an old model engine!?
heavyrightfoot
I sold a 2001, Y plate one a few months ago, that had a 1.6 zebec in it
Craig855S
They stopped making the 1.4 is 1998 I think but obviously this one has been stored somewhere and registered late...Very similar to that cossie that was in the haynes motor museum unregstered from the day it was made unti 2001 so its out there on a 51 pate
hicksy
I got the VIN from the reg at work and it was made in 2000, but registered in 2002 And it is supposed to be a 1.4 too I think it said it was a CLX or something
