Neil-Serenade
Morning again everyone. Hope you and your motors are OK. I know I have raised this subject before and asked the question but I'm pretty desperate as my clutch is slipping a lot. Also I've noticed that's sometimes when in neutral, the car starts to rev itself and it makes a ticking noise which be not noticed before. Also I would link to give the car a full service as its been a while so I'm wandering if I got the parts, is there anyone pretty local wh could do both for me. Happy to pay and lend an extra pair of hands. Cheers again:-)
horizon
This may appear rude, so sorry if it does, but why don't you ask a garage to do it for you and ask if you can help.
Neil-Serenade
Already asked that with a few and they said no because of health and safety and if anything may take longer. I've even asked if they could do it after hours or in own free time. A guy on here called Supersport very kindly offered to do it and he only charges £20 an hour labour but I haven't been able to get hold of him. Tried messaging on here, phone and email on his site but no luck.
demented
You still not replaced this clutch 4 years later..... Is the clutch actually slipping, otherwise it's holding out well. Approx 6 mths ago I was quoted £160 from Mr Clutch to replace clutch in 1.8 Escort, However, I believe they only replace the friction plate & not a complete clutch. I've also heard, that once car on the ramps & gearbox out, they phone claiming a new flywheel is required ...!

demented
Personally, I've never used Mr Clutch & whether they fit a complete clutch or just the friction plate, it'll be under warranty, possible two years. I guess it's not always necessary to fit a complete clutch; probably done due to relative low cost of components & as gearbox is out, might as well. However, I've come across too many a friend who claim they ended up pay more than quoted because a new flywheel was required; I'm not referring to DMF either. Neil-Serenade
Was told the clutch was slipping a few years ago when I had a service but I couldn't notice a thing and I only do a few thousand miles a year. Its just the last few months its started to get worse. I have got a new/old stock genuine Ford 3 piece clutch. I know some garages don't like using peoples parts and don't allow help which is why I've come in here. Like I said, happy to pay, rather put money n their pockets than a big company. Cheers again,
demented
If you supply your own clutch kit and a garage fits it for you, the garage wont provide a warranty. If something goes wrong after fitting, at a later date, you'll have to pay a garage to remove the clutch again. Otherwise, if a garage supplies their own clutch kit & fits it, you'll be covered by their warranty for re-installstion as well as the parts.
