It sure is Its typical before the mot it was up for sale with only 3 responses , I was even willing to put 12 months ticket on.But after jotting up the bills from my ownership its clearly worth more to me to now run it for the year , then what its worth to ebay users... although it hasnt left the garage since mot day haha

Vacuman
My 1st GTI estate owned new from 1998 to 2001 and my current ride, purchased in June 2014. Same house, same drive. http://www.verulam-angling.co.uk/temp/GTi%20covered%20in%20snow.jpg http://www.verulam-angling.co.uk/temp/Escort%20GTI%20-%202014.jpg
Mex
I spotted this other day in case anybody fancies a new shell for their estate or fancies building one. Only downside is it's a left hand drive but you'll have all you need to convert it anyway. No idea of price either. http://www.cabmasters.com/197-405-thickbox/lhd-escort-estate-mk5-replacement-body-shell.jpghttp://www.cabmasters.com/197-404-thickbox/lhd-escort-estate-mk5-replacement-body-shell.jpg

Vacuman
That's quite weird. Can't think I would ever be bothered to reshell an Escort estate - but that new shell would probably cost less than what I paid for the welding on mine. After siting around for 20 years I suspect it would need a lot of work still, plus converting to RHD. As a base for something different it would be cool. Perhaps splice it to the floor pan and running gear of an Audi TT Quattro. Roughly the same wheel base - or something similar HOT to create a super quick 'sleeper'.
