sidrick
lol nice, should have fitted the cam cover aswell. We'll see how funds look. If I end up going for more power then the head will need to come off. A lot has to be removed to swap the rocker so I can't be hooped if it might come off again in a few months. That said, funds ain't looking great, so I'll probably slap it on after sorting the suspension
sidrick
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/temporary-97.jpg Should get cracking now the weather's not so bad and days are lighter. Got some custom brackets for the 996 calipers so only got to arrange shipping for one caliper that's sitting with family in the US and then I'm good to get the big stoppers on Couple of engine mounts, gearbox mounts on the way then I'll speak to Reidline (local motorsport place that I didn't realise they were practically next door to me!) and see what they'll charge for fitting those, the decats and welding an exhaust bracket vs the pain it'd cause me DIYing it. Also pictured are custom derlin solid inner-tie rod bushes
sidrick
A slightly more worthwhile update now Thought I'd get the front leather in and pull the carpet up to trace the wiring for the central locking that has been knackered for about a year.... Before and after cleaning:http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000457.jpg Found the seats had been 'modded' to fit another model with some jubilee clips to move the adjuster to the other side:http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000459.jpg Swapped them over to the original positions and fitted along with the mats I got for Christmas:http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000460.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000463.jpg So before fitting the driver side seat I thought I'd have a look at the CL wiring. My brother (a sparky) has been promising to look for months but just hasn't had time, so despite me being worse than useless with wiring and electrics, I managed to track this:http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000473.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000477.jpg I crimped in a new section and we're back in business http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/WP_000478.jpg

scottybo
that interior looks super early 90s, i really like it lol too much plastic in newer cars these days, or at least, the plastic really feels like plastic. if that makes any sense to anyone at all
sidrick
Aye, I know what you mean. Not much plastic left on this car. After 20 years it breaks when it comes off so doesn't go back on Anyone know of one of these being broken? Struggling to find the later ABY cross member at a reasonable price. sidrick
To celebrate its 23rd birthday I got the rear leather in. For the first time since I bought the car it has a complete interior, working central locking, interior lights and rear speakers (the Sony items fitted in the OE hidden positions). Built up the rear suspension (new Koni adjustable shocks, new dust covers, new bump stops, new Lemforder top mounts, new blah blah blah) ready for a nice day and decided to order all the shite for the front 996 conversion as the worn standard brakes will either fail the imminent MOT or kill me. Got the companion of my solo caliper shipped from the US:http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/temporary-107.jpg Spent a little extra to get some quality pads:http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/temporary-108.jpg Got Brembo 314mm A8 discs due any day as well as ATE blue DOT 4 fluid which seems to get good reviews for normal use. Basically just to decide on either RS2 hard lines to the caliper or a custom braided hose, then I'm good to go. scottybo
braided would be the safer option i would have though, got a bit of flex in it then. should look super sexy with those brakes on though man!
sidrick
My understanding is that braided on a road car is not safer.

Nah, the brackets at the top of the page are custom items that allow fitment under 16" wheels (yeah, 4-pots with 314mm discs) with plenty of clearance. My summers are 17" and winters 16". If I'd gone for the 323mm option I'd have been limited to 17" and above. Anyhoo... Decent haul today! In no particular order: 2.5t alu/steel jack. Still weighs a tonne2ltr ATE Super Blue Racing DOT 4 brake fluid. Should make it easy for a spuzzer like me to see when all the old stuff is flushed.Pad dampening platesBloody big brake discsAwesome socksAudi nuts and bolts (strut>hub nuts/bolts/washers, rear caliper bracket>hub bolts, G13, front strut nuts, spring plate washers) http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/temporary-109.jpg
Ahmotorsport
Fuxcking love the socks Nice update! Only trouble with braided is it can be difficult to tell if the inside of the pipe has busted. Looks good though.

Looks good though. That's it exactly. Fine for race cars who will change them often, but on a road car where you might not check them for a while, braided are either broken (and my car doesn't have the diagonal cross braking system) or working. Rubber hoses bulge, leak, whatever before letting go completely.
