eetaylog
Is now all sorted. I assume that petrol prices will now drop by the same amount that it went up before all the threats of strike... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-18036724

eetaylog
Didn't ASDA announce they're about to drop it by 2p? Hope so. Asda were the first ones to kick off the price drop last time, the others soon followed due to the competition.
geordie_aaron
2p...WTF is 2p!?! it needs to come under the pound again - NO call for the amount we pay. BUT having said that.......there's shite all we can/will do about it.Yeah so a strike will lower it until they stop striking or a month or so...then climb again, and further climb to recup what they lost during the price crash then that will become the norm and will all start again. Needs to be a governing body that regulates the fuel companies - and NOT our government....an independant!

Spend nearly £300 a month on fuel and ive come to just accept it as much as it sucks. Edited May 11, 2012 by Naylor2006

mclovin9091
Noticed my local ones had dropped theirs by 3p. Although i am still currently on 24 hours notice to carry out some additional training should they decide to go on strike. Thats until the 8th of September, expect them to kick off about 2-3 weeks before the olympics.
PeeWee
£1.37.9 per litre here now.Aaron mate I'm pretty sure the tanker strike had nothing to do with the lowering of fuel prices, I think it was about their own jobs.

Craig855S
The government are to blame for the extortionate cost of fuel, not the fuel companies, the cost of the fuel has risen to cope with the increase in the price of the oil, its the government putting more and more duty on it (and VAT on top) that have made it so expensive. However all stations should be forced to charge the same, so you dont pay more down south than up north, and much more at service stations

If a petrol station is 10 miles away from a refinery then it will obviously be able to sell fuel cheaper than one that is 400 miles from one. The same happens with milk, bread, etc. Shite doesn't transport itself.

RobMk6
On the whole 'distance' side of things then, My home is about 8 miles from a refinery, yet we've some of the most expensive fuel in the country? How does that work?

How does that work? Exactly, and busy routes/motorways between my local station and the refinery (closer to the refinery than my local BP) are more expensive...why??? It's not transport costs, theyre just ripping people off because they know they'll pay. Not many people buy fuel on the motorway if they can help it (unless the company are paying)
