Naylor2006
Hello Been meaning to ask everyones opinion about this for ages and being that I dont have any problems to post about at the moment I might as well ask. I've been running Super Unleaded in my escorts for years now, I started when I was a bit younger and stupid and thinking 'surely I must be getting some more power even if I dont notice it', its that sort of stupidity that is why I'm still using it today thinking that regular fuel is somehow a step back. Ive read that cars before 1996 are unlikely to have an ECU that will adjust accordingly to the level of ocatane in the fuel, I have a DESK ECU, thats gotto be no newer than 94 I think. Am I wasting money?Am I getting more miles out a tank?Am I gaining performance?Am I loosing performance? Funny thing is is that my mums 1.6 Leon X reg actually says in the handbook to use super.....why? Any info would be great, ive been interested in knowing if it was worth it for a while now. Ahmotorsport
You use super duper to help avoid pre ignition in performance cars. Even i have to run it with my 11:1 CR. I wouldn't say it gains you any performance, it just enables you to run performance. Putting your standard unleaded into 13:1 compression ratio motor, would make you slower, because all the cylinder gases would escape through the hole in the piston that's just been created Is it worth it? Yes, if you need it but there is no harm in buying it anyway.

Stu
Your ECU is calibrated for 95 RON. Running anything higher in it will actually decrease performance.
