KW-rscos
Fitted RS2000 Recaros to my 98 GTi and ever since the Airbag light flashes, originally this was never an issue, but will I have any problems now with the new MOT rules? If so what can I do to rectify the issue as my Recaros are from an older RS2000 and therefore do not have the multi-plug connected to the seat. Any help much appreciated. Ahmotorsport
Put the seats on your old subframes.
PeeWee
Put the seats on your old subframes. I thought mk6 seats don't have removable subframes?
scottg17
Whip the bulb out the dash but that light does indicate a fault in your airbag system
Naylor2006
Since changing my gauges for the later digital style the ABS light stuck on so I just took the dials apart and popped insulating tape over it.....I dont have ABS though. How does the chair plug affect the airbag warning, is there sensors associated with the seat plug? Edited June 7, 2012 by Naylor2006
Danzetec
You need to fit your original buckles with the pre-tensioners on them. If they really won't fit then plug them in and secure beneath the seat to turn the light back off
KW-rscos
I dont have the old seats unfortunately, I swapped them before last years MOT when it made no difference and Sold the old seats on. Will I have any issues if I remove the bulb?

stuey650
as has been said its probably the pre-tensioner that need changed for the original ones. Had the same thing with my Puma fitting newer interior into an older car. Swapped for the original pre-tensioner and light went out. I know puma seats are different but in my case it was not difficult to "make them fit". I doubt they will cost you much from a scrap yard and is less dodgy than removing bulbs etc
KW-rscos
It would appear this has been postponed for now until the regs are ironed out so not a problem for a min. Tahanks for the replies though.
Stu
It's not a new regulation. An ABS or Airbag light on has been a failure for years.

sortedford
Its not.ABS light I think is a fail, SRS (Secondary Restraint System) i.e. airbags is not a fail currently, but will be coming in as a failure reason soon. I had this discussion with a Volvo main dealers recently and they confirmed its correct with current regulations.
