nothing major done today just a few bits in preparation, unfortunately i wont be going to ford fair so wont be able to meet a lot of you, although i really would like to ;)

first order of the day was my choice of shoes, black DC's with camo pattern and matching laces. i know everyone likes to look at my shoes!

got my mondy calipers out today and got to work with my wire brush then painted them with some red caliper paint. my first time painting calipers so it was a bit animalistic, doesn't look too bad in fairness and tbh they dont really have to be perfect

quick repair to corner of cracked side skirt! but brutal but it will hold and no one will ever see it

http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j432/scottybo1/2012-08-11151951.jpg

also finished rubbing down my skirts and managed to get them primed before i got too hungry n had to rush off! will let them dry nicely overnight n then get the pepper red out tomorrow to finish them off

wow, foot fetish. Is this really the right website for you to be on? Any more about your shoes and this topic'll get closed lol Actually steve's is still going so you should be ok :pancake: Good job on the repairs ( messy b*stard) Also if your skirts dont quite colour match too well, when I sprayed mine years ago I had to use black as an undercoat before the pepper red. As its a bit transparent it may be a bit too light a base colour. Just see how it goes but thats what I had to do. :thumb:

yeh ur right i sprayed up the skits and held them up against the car, the skirts are soooo much lighter than the colour of the car...what a bugger, and a waste of money. oh well ill try again at the weekend.

update today!

shoes of the day...nike air max

http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j432/scottybo1/friday3.jpg

skirts are painted and on the car! doesnt look too bad from a distance

http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j432/scottybo1/friday2.jpg

but then you get up close and the colour difference becomes really noticable, annoying as hell as i thought they looked alright before they were bolted on

http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j432/scottybo1/friday4.jpg

and seeing as we had a small discussion on someone elses thread about what toys etc we all keep in the car...heres mine!

Apart from finding that you need a black base coat, I also found that I couldnt just apply more and more coats of red to solve the problem. Once the pepper red has dried over the black bass coat, when you spray more pepper red it will be bright again! As though you havnt got the dark bass coat. Spray it black (i used matt) then do the pepper red in one go, dont allow to dry and spray more. Do it all in one hit. You'll find the dark bass coat will show through which is the look your after. :thumb:

Pepper red is known for being very transparent. Ideally you should use a red oxide primer. Then apply pepper red this will help it cover. Don't be tempted to use Halfords pepper red to colour match is shyte, use a automotive paint supplier they will be Able to colour match it, and supply it in rattle cans. Which should give you a better colour match.
