yeah garage is good size, due being a corner plot I couldn't quite get a proper double so not enough room to get two capri's in side by side, plenty width just not length, could maybe squeeze in a fiesta but for now its just a workshop/store. Got a new shed since the last photo was taken and floored the loft space so its alittle tidier now!

Righto, car update as promised.

 

The car is a cat D as someone has very kindly rear ended it. You can still get rear panels, but they come at a mega cost so I opted for the 2nd hand root and cut on of a car being broken instead. This made the job twice as hard because I had to unpick the damaged panel form my car without damaging the sections being left. I also had to unpick the 2nd hand panel to leave the section I need without damaging it. In short, it took way longer than I thought it would.

Old one off, and trial fit of Xpack wing to see where it comes to.

Boot floor also had crease, so cut out section and made template.

Then welded in new section with lip

Finally new panel in, with light to try and get the alignment as near as possible to what it should be.

I've made a start on repairing the lower skin with some tin, going to source a repair section from another car for the top skin as would never manage to shape the metal to the correct shape without a tub of filler!

Wee update:

 

Finished the lower skin of the skuttle, want to get a section of the car for top skin but no success finding one yet.

Ordered myself a spit from ebay and set about getting the car on it. Should have perhaps ordered the self loading attachment to go with it, but got there in the end:

Scary moment turning it a full 360 degrees for the first time!

Since then been burning and scrapping away the old underseal:

This has revealed a few areas that need attention, mostly the front spring hangers, section on the chassis leg that I already knew about and driver side footwell. Oh and the sills have been bodged in the past so I think I need to take them off and start again.

Also took the one front wing off the other night, not much of a wing rail left!

So thats about it for now until I finish cleaning the underside then I can turn my attention to starting some of the repairs required.

So, I guess I'm overdue another update on this, afriad to say not a huge amount of progress, or nothing of much excitement anyway, plus my photo taking stills are lacking, I tend to take one before I start and area but forget to take a completed one!

 

The car is still on a spit and I'm still working my way round all the dodgy areas so starting with the front footwell:

I have now finished both sides but don't seem to have a completed photo on my phone!

 

I've remove both our sills and repaired the inners. Tonight I turned my attention to the underside or the front valence. There's a water trap where 3 layers of steel meet.

I've not sorted two of the layers, applied a layer of seem sealer to the welds and will complete the job hopefully tomorrow evening.

 

That just leaves the other chassis leg, I wasn't originally going to replace the whole section as it looks okay however upon closer inspection its abit dodge and far easier to replace now whilst the car is on the spit that a few years down the line if it fails an MOT.

 

Then my plan is to get the outer sills back on, that will see the underside mostly complete then and I can turn my attention to the inner wings, wing rails, A post and start to think about ordering the X pack kit (I have a second hand kit as per the wing in one of the earlier photos however its a bit rough so I am going to buy a new kit)

yeah what he says, think what an escort cosworth wide arch kit is to an Escort, the X-pack is the same to a Capri.

 

Undecided on the front splitter or rear spolier, there's a few options, have bought a whale tail but unsure if I'm going to use it. Thinking same front splitter as I had on the white capri (see car history thread)
