wwwd
My phone contract expired in July, and I wanted to wait for the release of the iPhone 5 this year before upgrading. Unfortunately, it was hugely disappointing so I decided not to upgrade. I've got an iPhone 4S, and quit my contract with O2 and signed up to Giff Gaff, so I'm only paying £10 a month and on a rolling monthly contract. So at the moment I have a couple of options: 1) Keep the iPhone 4S and keep paying £10/month. The iPhone 4S is still a decent phone so I'd be better saving the cash. 2) Get something else, like the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the Note. Any opinions? Any opinions? for what its worth I reckon you should just get your moneys worth out the 4s for the time being, from a "prectical" point of view that is though. but If you fancy a change I suppose you can still get fairly decent money for a 4s.....though that wont last much longer with the introduction of the

But obviously I don't get a phone, it's a SIM only tariff.
PeeWee
I was in a similar position as you wwwd only a few months ago (still am)I still have my contract £34 although I am way out of it now so can go anywhere.Wanted the iPhone 5 but was told in the O2 shop that it will be £100 for the phone and £36 per month contract, this would give me unlimited calls, unlimited texts and 1gb data. This may seem ok until you hear that anyone of the street can get that deal, I ask him what happened to customer loyalty as I have always been with o2, guy in the store isn't bothered shrugging his shoulders.Spoke to a guy at o2 directly today who told me to call o2 themselves as they will be the only ones to deal with me properly regarding my years of loyalty and will offer me a better deal.I only need 300 mins, handful of texts and 1gb possibly even 500mb so the big amounts of calls do not sway me. I pondered a Samsung SIII momentarily but decided I prefer the quality and reliability of Apple/IOS.SIII looks great, my issue is the phone is too big, feels to plastic, and for me Android still is not the finished product just yet (I predict this to change)I will therefore end up with iPhone5 when I get my deal. I threatened to leave, and they said go ahead. Over 2 years, I worked out that: 1) If I join Giff Gaff for £10 / month, it would cost me £240 for the "line rental" and I could buy the iPhone 5 outright for £529 which = £769. 2) If I stayed with O2, it would be £36/month (£864) plus the thieving b*stards wanted £100 for the phone which is £964. So I think I'll stay with Giff Gaff then buy the phone I like outright. That way it will be unlocked and I can always sell it on eBay for more than other phones at a later date as it's not tied to any particular network. Just don't know if the Samsung Galaxy S3 (or anything else out there) is better than the 4S. I'm not going to the iPhone 5 as it's just not a big enough step up to justify the massive expense. wwwd
The other alternative is that I sell the iPhone 4S I already have and then use an old Nokia that I have - which I am contemplating so I can "be different" and not be so reliant on my phone. For me it isn't too bad as I skipped the 4s so the jump from 4 to 5 is a worthwhile step (and why I skipped the 4s)Have you held the 5 yet though, very nice indeed. You cannot fully appreciate the craftsmanship of the 5 until you hold it.Twice as fast as the 4s too which is indeed no mean feat as the 4s was fast. She knows how much of an Apple fan boy I am (sad enough to queue for hours waiting for the latest Apple handset) and she got it on Orange on the release day - and she didn't even have to go out - it was delivered to our door! Plus she threatened to leave unless she got it on the release day so they got it sent to her and waived the £199 fee for the phone itself! Compared to what O2 give their customers it's a joke. She's not arsed about it to be honest and all I see is the screen is slightly longer... Did steal her new iPhone 5 earphones though which are decent.
