Hi All,

I have a Mk6 Escort Finesse, i have a ripspeed cone air filter on it and i want to put an Oil Breather filter on it so i can remove the empty airbox that the air filter sits in, what size diameter is the pipe to connect the breather filter onto? and also what is the best way to install the filter? can i just cut the pipe down that comes out the back of the engine and clip the breather filter on? or is there a better way? also anyone know the benefits of these filters?

Thanks

My K&N cone filter has a second hole in the base (where it clips onto the air intake) for the oil breather pipe to just slide into, so it can breath through the same filter. might be easier to just drill a hole in the base of the cone under the large hole that fits onto the MAF and just slot the pipe in there. easy.

or u could just take the hose and route it down so it faces the floor(like a bike engine)...u don't really need a filter on it

Wouldn't that fail an MOT, I know it would fail a track day inspection?

I'm almost certain any decent MOT man would fail that.

haha, I hope your not insinuating that there are dodgey MOT testers out there, you know where you take it to one garage and they fail you on three things and then you take it for a retest in another garage and they fail you on 2 completely different things and pass what the other failed you on even though you haven't touched them! you don't mean those sort of dodgey testers do you?? haha

According to the DVLA website, the MOT test does not cover the condition of the engine, gearbox or clutch.

well im only going by what i know from experience, all the bikes ive ever owned have had their oil breather pipes just leading down to the floor, and if anyone cares to take a look through my thread, bongo advised me to do the same when i fitted his air intake setup
