EscortFinesseMK6
Hi All, I have a Mk6 Escort Finesse, i have a ripspeed cone air filter on it and i want to put an Oil Breather filter on it so i can remove the empty airbox that the air filter sits in, what size diameter is the pipe to connect the breather filter onto? and also what is the best way to install the filter? can i just cut the pipe down that comes out the back of the engine and clip the breather filter on? or is there a better way? also anyone know the benefits of these filters? Thanks

Rockerrob666
My K&N cone filter has a second hole in the base (where it clips onto the air intake) for the oil breather pipe to just slide into, so it can breath through the same filter. might be easier to just drill a hole in the base of the cone under the large hole that fits onto the MAF and just slot the pipe in there. easy. scottybo
or u could just take the hose and route it down so it faces the floor(like a bike engine)...u dont really need a filter on it
JC
or u could just take the hose and route it down so it faces the floor(like a bike engine)...u don't really need a filter on it Wouldn't that fail an MOT, I know it would fail a track day inspection? scottybo
why would it fail an mot, as i said its no different to a bike engine whos breather pipe just pokes out the top and trails down underneath the bike
Stu
It's not part of the MOT test, but new vehicle regulations require it go to back through the engine. I personally wouldn't want smelly oily breather smell getting back into the cabin.

I'm almost certain any decent MOT man would fail that.

sidrick
However, venting gasses to the atmosphere and oil leaks are included in the test.
scottybo
well im only going by what i know from experience, all the bikes ive ever owned have had their oil breather pipes just leading down to the floor, and if anyone cares to take a look through my thread, bongo advised me to do the same when i fitted his air intake setup
