lee grout
What about looking for a disc rear beam setup. Easy bolt on with better braking plus discs/pads easier to fit and play with than drums. Most old cars need welding at some point so don't feel too disheartened. scottybo
little bit of weldings no issue man! if you want to stick with the drums, get down the scrappy and take a cylinder of another escort, less than an hours work to change them out! or when something breaks its the perfect time to upgrade it! as lee said get an rs disced rear beam, or check my thread for a how to, on changing to focus rear discs! wolf8
Ive just ordered two new rear pistons so im hanging on in there , but im having trouble finding anyone to look at the sills the body shops ive tried around my way just don't want to know and the one that did said id be looking at around £700 without even looking at the car and thats just silly talk. I'm a bit gutted as I can do most things my self but sadly not body work and welding and its the welding that is going to cause me the most problems. tomsy
10 months is a long time till the next MOT so hopefully somebody will be able to help you out, if not have a look on youtube must be loads of how to weld vids on there then hire a welder have a play with it then give it a go on your car. It would be a great skill for your lad to learn as well and what better way to learn than together, good luck the cars to nice to give up on. lee grout
Like Scotty said, eBay. Just note different sills 3 -5 door. Sounds obvious but read description don't just look at pic! I got 2 off eBay quite cheap. Still have 1 whole outer sill as the other was just chopped for couple patches instead of replacing the whole thing. bronze4door
i have had the sills replace on mine and it cost around £300 bit that was for the full sill and part of the inner sill to floor area too the sills are cheap enough off ebay or crash/body repair places online and if its just the rear area of ths sills then thats very little rot for an escort
