Thought I'd introduce my daily runabout:

I got this about a year ago for £280 (needing a LOT of work) to use as a daily car so I could keep my Series 2 RS Turbo tucked away for sunny weekends.

Some of you may know me from other forums, I've been on the scene for a while and have had 5 Escorts in total now including the two I own. Glad to see there's still a little following for MK5 & 6's. :)

Looks super clean  what happened to the red mk6 in your SIG? :thumb:

Nice looking car there mate :thumb:

Have you got many plans for it?

If i remember correctly, your red one was a very tidy example, so we can expect good things of this :)

Cheers fellas, I part exchanged the red MK6 against my RS Turbo a couple of years ago.

This is how it was looking before I moved it on,

looks nice, what about some pics of the RST though!?

Thanks. Here you go,

So here's how the Pepper red MK6 looked like when I bought it,

Here's partly why I got the car quite cheap!

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm212/donkey077/DSCF1993.jpg

The rear end had seen a slight bump which had left a cracked rear bumper, loose boot latch and little dent in the rear panel.

Seen chassis rails a lot worse than these:

The car was also desperate for some new lower arms, I'll never forget how much wandering and pulling it was suffering from driving home along the M4, scary!

The priority was to get the car in shape for the mot so I gave it a good service, some lovely budget lower arms, drop links, track rod ends and a little welding.

The car was finally feeling and looking a little more road worthy!

Cheers Danny42, I do miss the red one but I've got no regrets from swapping it for my RS Turbo.

As for the pepper red one, I intend to keep it fairly original as it's a daily car that gets left places, I wanna tidy it up some more and possibly lower it a little though!

I had the normal upgrades and some spares tucked away in the garage to fit.

Had three of these wheels which were spares from my old MK6, managed to get hold of another two to complete the set.

Had a few other bits delivered to me from a well known Escort breaker :)

Electric wing mirrors, plug and play on the Si.

Good bumper to replace my cracked one.

Also dug out some more spares which I sprayed pepper red with rattle cans and 2K lacquer.

Once the car was solid and running well (after replacing the water pump) it didn't take long to find parts on Ebay.

A few short trips later had me these:

Gti interior for £51

The usual gti skirts (£14) and spats (£10) all in pepper red.

Also got a cabby strut brace off JC on here, cheers for fitting it while I was at yours lol :thumb:

Thats pretty much where I'm up to now, I'm hoping to get one of the rear arches repaired over the next few weeks.

Sorry for the lack of exciting mods on this one, I like the oem look and keeping the car clean and tidy :)

If anyone has a drivers side front jacking cover in any colour feel free to drop me a PM, thanks for looking.

A few days later a load more came out and it now sounds terrible!

I had a Sportex back box on my old Si and I must admit I was more than pleased with it. Arch repair is a priority at the moment though.

  • 3 weeks later...

Cheers chaps, it does the job as a daily :)

Picked up another Ebay purchase at the weekend, a spare set of RS2K wheels.

The roads around Swindon are full of pot holes and craters so spare wheels which only cost £31 were worth it imo.

The rusty pea shooter backbox decided to snap as well so got myself an affordable sportex box which from past experience fit well and sound decent.
