scottybo
i say JC because he also started with an x reg finnesse 1.6 and put an older engine in with an older ECU. i want to ask about the cooling system......firstly is the standard 1.6 radiator up to the job, on the larger zetec engines secondly will the cooling fan still work on its own with the older ECU or will i have to wire in a standalone switch?!? and lastly about the temp guage, apparently the older ECUs dont work with the newer digi dials in the last of the escorts, is there any way at all to make this work or would i have to wire in a separate temp guage? i dont think wiring one in would be a difficult task i just have a horrendous fear of cruising around quite happily when unbeknown to me, my new engine is baking itself to death
Stu
The radiator fan was not controlled by the early ECU, it used a mech/elec switch in the water hose. Rad will be fine if you use a proper fan, not some junk slimline crap.

Stu
Why would it be beefier? Where's your logic?
scottybo
Why would it be beefier? Where's your logic? the fan is like double thickness of a regular one, when i had that pro tech manifold fitted it touched the fan cowling but on models without AC it clears fine....ergo i guess the AC models have bigger fans
Stu
It wasn't clear if your comment was about the radiator, or the fan.

scottybo
The temp gauge is 2 wires easy to wire to the dash gauge.i had to do this on mine. what about the fan? will it still fire up on its own and regulate the temps?
