luke83g
Hi, wiring in a GTi electric front seat base to Escort without the wiring provided. Tested the seat and the motor works when connected directly to the battery. So, earthed the motor and wired a cable (with 15 amp in line fuse) from the seat and run this under the carpet and its currently running to the drivers side footwell. Want some suggestions as to the best place to wire this live to. Any ideas what permanent lives are available under the drivers footwell cover (near the fuel pump switch). Colours of wire would be helpful too!! Thanks Guys
JC
I seem to remember that mine was wired directly to a live on the fusebox
shawdreamer
I seem to remember that mine was wired directly to a live on the fusebox easiest chunky live to get to also. If as you say your using a inline fuse then run the live along the drivers door trim and up behind the kick panel to the underneath of the fusebox, once you unclip the plastic cover that protects the bottom of the fusebox you'll be able to see were a thick gauge red main live cable runs onto a 8mm screwed connection at the bottom-back of the box. If you crimp the end of your feed with a appropriate 8mm "hoop" terminal you'll be able to undo the 8mm nut that holds the fusebox live feed in place and slot your additional hoop over the top before replacing the nut. Took your advice and wired it up this way onto the live into the fusebox, via a fuse to the seats. Thanks for the suggestions - appreciate the help.
