Fair play you're doing something like this but I've got to say the obvious, you should be doing this to an rs2000 or at least a 3dr gti :)

Im just glad hes saving an escort from the scrapyard in the sky. Theyre getting thin on the ground and id like to think they will earn a classic status one day

Three reasons why I'm not .. One everyone does 3 doors the 5 doors may not command the same price but are defiantly fewer and far between like mk1's and mk2's you see a load of 3 doors at shows but very few 5 doors .. Two I personally don't like the 3 door something about the huge rear windows I prefer the shape of the two doors and the small quarter window I genuinely feel the 5 door is a better looking car .. Three I have a sentimental attachment to this car just buying a 3 door because it's the popular shape I wouldn't have the drive to do it because I wouldn't care about the car the same way

Whack a cambelt on it while its out just because its easy.

If the cambelts off why not throw some 130 or 2.0l cams in it?!?!

Also perfect time for a clutch relacement.

Get the flywheel lightened maybe? Its super easy to remove and really not expensive

Fit some oil spray jets from a 130 or 2.0l?

I stripped mine down completely and did the head ports. Reground valves etc. But i had plenty of time to do it

Doing water pump cam belt and clutch while its sat on the ground .. In a bit loathed to mess around with the engine .. It's always been sweet as a nut .. Heard the big cams was a rumour and just moves the power band up the Rev range rather than delivering more power

  • 3 weeks later...

bought this the other day .. another single wiper conversion .. bought mainly for the scuttle panel which has had the drivers side wiper hole (which goes unused after the conversion) smoothed and looks a cracking job and cant hurt to have a spare single wiper conversion i suppose .. the collection of parts is evergrowing
