Andy_Foz
Hi folks Can anyone help? My heater doesnt work (hot or cold) on my mk3 Orion (mk5 Escort). Ive removed dash panel to reveal the multiplug in the back of the heater controls. There is 12v there so that eliminates the fusebox problem, yeah?.So ive removed scuttle panel and wiper mechanism to reveal heater blower. I got 10v (?) on one of the pins but nothing on anything else. Although should I have tried when ive put the heater on different settings to see if other pins work? People say to run wires from the batteru to the blower but wasnt sure whether I should connect positive to the single plug or multiplug? Don't want to break anything!! Grateful for any advice folks?? demented
If the issue you're experiencing is referring to the speed output of the blower motor, then it is more than likely the resistor pack which has failed. This link will help:http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums/in...hl=Blower+motor Otherwise, if the blower motor is operating as expected, then the issue could be due to a faulty thermostat which has become stuck in the open position, thus not allowing the engine to reach a normal operating temperature and provide heat to the interior. Or the heater matrix, due to the vehicles age, has become blocked and the engine coolant is unable to circulate through the heater matrix, thus unable to provide heat to the interior. Andy_Foz
Hi there. Thanks for the reply. The heater does not blow hot or cold air on either position 1, 2 or 3.
demented
Then it's more than likely the resistor pack or the switch. When the blower switch is set to ON (any speed) you should also be able to detect a live at the resistor pack, a live which will operate in unison whith switch, thus, live when switch is ON and not live when the switch is OFF, if so, this proves the switch is operating as it should. The link I provided yesterday will provide all else:http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums/in...hl=Blower+motor

demented
The resistor pack is at the rear of the blower motor, under the bonnet. I can't remember its precise location. You may have to remove a plastic cover to gain access. There is also a relay inside the fuse box which you should test but as said previously, if a live feed is reaching the resistor pack, which can be controlled by the fan switch on the dashboard, then the relay and switch are probably ok.
