Jlroberts
Hey guys. Bought a modified bumper has the same fittings as the OE bumper but is just not fitting on. It won't fit around the sides at the same time. Only one side can be put on and it looks 10-20mm too short on the other side. The person I bought it from had it fitted to their MK6 Mexico but it's just not fitting on my finesse MK6. Am I putting it on wrong or is this bumper too short? Thanks
sidrick
Aftermarket rubbish is rarely a simple bolt on, but perhaps one of the vehicles has had a bump in the past..... you mentioned before that your original bumper was cracked and broken. bongo
You will have to sort off pull the end out to get it around the wing.
shawdreamer
itd help if you told us what mod bumper it is? for example a ST200 from a mondy will fit onto a escort rear with adapted hangers but even in the best of shape a little bit of stretching and fettling will always be needed. same pretty much for any aftermarket "bit" in your case Id suggest you fit the bumper on its standard hangers first then have a second person put some weight around the arch areas to "stretch" the remaining parts into place. Custom made for him from a company in Germany, It's just like the bumper has no play and feels like it cant be pulled otherwise the fibreglass would break. lee grout
Get a pic up. If it fit his then it must fit yours. Try fitting on side on (without screws) then wrap the other side around. It'll be stiff but should slide with some force then it hopefully pop in the wheel arch. Fibreglass bumpers got an ok amount of flex before it'll crack.
