vw bora project

morning all, its been a while since I came on here last so i thought id share my current project with you all.

I bought it pretty much as it is but its quite ropey and needs fine tuning to bring it back to it former glory!!

heres a brief run down on the spec (that I know of) when I got the car

revo remap
coilovers
18" bbs reps
front mount intercooler
milltec down pipe
s/s exhaust system (unsure of make)
bigger audi tt front brake setup (again unsure of exact setup)
boost gauge
7" lcd pioneer head unit
angle head lights

this is how the front of the car looked when I got it

needless to say, it looked ridiculous, why the last owner hacked half the bumper off I do not know so I went about removing and refitting the intercooler properly and fitting a full bumper back on, turns out the ic was only bolted to the front bumper anyway so as soon as I took the bumper off it just fell to the floor lol

and now refitted using some homemade brackets

and then with the new bumper on...

much better imo!

with that now done I decided I didn't like the angle the eye headlights so I got some originals and with the aid of a heat gun and some black paint I made my own modified jobbies

black looks much better up against the origianls, what dyou reckon?

I couldn't find a grill piece for the bumper at the scrap yard so I decided to do this instead...

so I now have a half decent looking front end, just need to gt a debadged grill and smooth off the bonnet and old number plate recess in the bumper, might get a square number plate and mount it abit neater aswel at some point...

 

I do have a few more pics but I cant be bothered to load them all up right now, maybe tomorrow?

or borings. ask a child to draw a car on a piece of paper.....it will draw u either a bora or a passat lol

I didnt expect youd get much love here with your bora I personally hated them untill in 2009 I got a vw passat what a machine never had a problem with it and underneath - arches ect all look like the day it rolled out the factory if only could be said about escorts despite my much love for them still , I only need a van & ill have a full house haha.

The thing I love about my passat is the mpg I have never experienced another car like it although the older afn engines are supposed to be un beatable for the mpg.

Not to mention the power after remapping its literally the best of both worlds.

Any way since being in the vag group I have learned to love the boras for me it was only the front end that let them down.

Yours looks spot on I like what im seeing.

everyone raves on about the reliability of vw's but i can name 6 friends who have had a vw, and had nothing but problems with them, maybe everyone i know is literally just that unlucky!

Maybe they are , or maybe they dont maintain them to a good standard?

I rave more about the mpg if any thing , but untill I experience a problem with mine I will go as far as to say the reliability is like any other car thats not abused & is regularly serviced.

The b5 - b5.5 is what I can only speak for how ever plenty on the passat site have nothing but trouble with the early b6 2006 - 2008 for many reasons but then theres those with the same model who have never had to put a spanner to the engine.
