you guys may remember i posted this pic a few weeks back

http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j432/scottybo1/Mobile%20Uploads/20140605_193226_zpsuiqq8obo.jpg

this was the van i acquired for the grand total of zero quid!

i had to service a chaps vehicle from across the road from me and as payment he would give me the van

it has affectionately become known as 'tetley' the van because it has more holes in it than a teabag!

she is a rusty old ballbag with 240k on the clock! and quite possibly the slowest thing i have ever had the pleasure of driving

i thought i would take this as a test of my skills, and to be hones i would feel bad about scrapping it off after the old boy across the road gave it to me, so here goes another project!

1 side welded up, no the prettiest but it should get me through an mot, just the other side to do and then all of the floor.....

also whacked a paint brush round the crappy rusty steels to make it look a bit more presentable

and how i left it for today

i also spent about 3 hours led on my back waxoiling thew shizzle out of the underside but unfortunately did not get any pictures

You can see the royal mail logo in the paint where its less faded. Ill try to get a pic. Shes a ropey old dog and has been welded in pretty much every place imaginable.

between me and the old man we are confident we can return ot to daily use. Hes a sheet metal worker and all the plates we have been using are custom fit for the job made from aircraft grade stainless!

Need some gti front seats!

Nah im only jokin mate. I know shes had a very hard life and no one has taken car of her. I honestly dont think it has ever been cleaned or washed not even once. If i can get the body work up together and nice i might consider either a replacement engine or maybe a td conversion or something

anyone know if gti skirts fit? Might use some to cover up some of the nastyness on the sills. Theyre solid now but they look messy and horrible

progress has been slow, not much more welding left to do now though, i will get some pics up when i can, on a posotive thought, nearly the entire underside has been washed with a toothbrush and then waxoiled!

You will have to lengthen them by a couple of inches mate.

So at first my dad thinks the state of the van is funny...
