Do You Guys Agree This Is The Power Steering Pump +1

Hi All,

I currently own a 1995 ford escort 1.6l Zetec witch I bought with 42k on the clock :D. I have owned her for a year now she has done 58k, I had fitted a new clutch and a new aux belt. I have replaced the breaks, exhaust, starter motor, hand break cable and a full service.

Now down to the problem I noticed a whining noise coming from the car when ever the revs where at 2-3k on any gear. Naturally I thought it was the clutch because when I took my foot off the clutch it went BUT it would wouldn't it because the revs dropped. So then I revved the car up while driving to 2.5k with the clutch down and it still made the noise EEEUUURRREEEKKKAAA.

I then finally managed to get the car to make the noise when I wasn't moving so I listened and it sounds like the power steering pump so with a set of pliers I moved the power steering gear and its now been 3 days and no noise. (There is power steering fluid in the car by the way.) Do you guys agree with me that this is the power steering pump?

Lastly on my list my handbrake light comes on even when its down but it some times flickers and some times stays on but will then turn off.I have cleaned the switch but with no luck but I have heard what sounds like when two electric wires touch and spark behind the dashboard. Has anyone else had this problem.

Thanks for all your help in advance.
