Hi Guys,

anyone got lowering springs 40mm + for my van..must obviously fit on van struts. Uprated aswell as lowered, currently running cut springs, but thought time to stiffen it up properly. can springs off other escorts fit my van. I have uprated springs on my estate, but that has van struts too! So I cannot try them, as will be same! ?(

ps rear axle flipped, so I want the front level with rear!

As far as I know the front on a van are the same as other Escorts.

Thanks for your reply Mex! Thats what I was told, but i bought some "mk5 front springs", from ebay and they were different to the springs that I had on my van struts on both the van and the estate!! So maybe they were not from a mk5/6 motor, I don't know, and they were way bigger than coilover springs! Sitting in the loft now doing nothing :-( Hence the first post lol!!

Have you personally fitted mk5/6 springs on van shocks yourself Mex or just heard like I had before? Has anyone else done it on their van and can confirm it definately as i'm gonna have more springs than an auto shop soon, lol!!

Mk5s and mk6s are unsuprisingly different......

Why would you gave thought that springs from 2 different cars would be the same?

Firstly, "unsurprisingly" because I was told by someone who has had a couple of escorts that they were the same..never mind people make mistakes & it cost me.

Secondly, because I don't claim to know much about escorts & am learning all the time. I grew up owning, driving & working on such motors as an Aussie Rambler, 67 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback 273CI, V8 powered Mk3 Zephyr (later V6), V6 Grannies, Capris, escorts, cortinas and a host of other little runarounds, aswell as bikes inc 1100 kwaki.

I now own a couple of mk6 Escorts, of which I do a bit of work on myself with my grown up boy, when he comes up! So learning curve with some new cars to me!

Generally people who write slighting comments aimed at belittling others & making themselves "appear" important & knowledgable have very low self-esteem & insecurities and are trying to get themselves noticed! Well I did notice what a sad, pathetic comment, it was, maybe try and be helpful next time when someone is genuinely struggling with a problem & that will help you feel a little better about yourself, improve your self-esteem a bit!

I could ask why you have a fixation with "Anal" but I won't, I don't think I would like to know thanks!!

The suspension was revised on the MK6.

Thanks Mex, that would explain why the springs don't fit then ;-)Think I'll just stick to Mk6 springs then from now on, & do a bit more research for myself. Think I better flog those mk5 springs if I can find them lol!!
