stuey650
So I see in another post someone has completely gone to the other side and is driving an Astra VXR. Given pretty much everyone on this forum had an escort as their daily at one point or another I just wondered what people now have as their daily, have you taken the logic Ford route and now drive a Focus, or have you too gone to the dark side? Since my last daily escort I've gone: Fiesta 1.25Ka 1litrePuma 1.7Octavia VRSBMW 320DFocus ST Estate
KNITERIDER
I went from my mk5 escort to mk2 fiesta then a cotroen c1 and now my vxr. Best power to wallet ratio imo lol
sidrick
Good topic and a good while since I've had an Escort as a daily. A scary long time. Since then the only ones driven daily more than a year have been: Audi CoupeAudi Coupe S2 (favourite)Wife's Ford Fiesta at home (2007 model, great car)Wife's Ford Fiesta here (2015 model, shite car)Ford Mustang (current) Would always stick with Ford, BMW and Audi, probably VW too. Wouldn't bother with Vauxhall ever or an Asian motor unless it was a new on under warranty car. The new ones seem amazing but I wouldn't buy a used one to maintain myself and have to learn about them or buy specific tools. Getting too old. scottybo
i still have my escort but my dailys have been 2000 bmw 318i s saloon2002 bmw 318i se touring2007 bmw 320i msport saloon see a bit of a pattern here lol

My wife was looking for a new car and we very nearly bought a Kia Sportage the other month over a Kuga. You certainly get more for the money, wasn't new we're look at 3-4 year old. Landed buying a Kuga in the end but didn't think I'd ever even go into a Kia garage, times have changed. The BMW I had was actually one of the worst cars I've had. Didn't get off to a good start with it and it cost me a few quid through the 2 years I had it. Probably bad luck but won't be rushing to buy another. i still have my escort but my dailys have been 2000 bmw 318i s saloon2002 bmw 318i se touring2007 bmw 320i msport saloon see a bit of a pattern here lol Based on the pattern I think your next one will be a 2009 BMW 320i Msport Touring? im rocking my mk6 finesse as a daily, wouldn't change it for the world Didn't think there would be many still used as a daily, quite a statement to say you wouldn't change for the world, it is just an old escort remember! Theyre pretty iconic as a real life working mans car They did everything back in the day. From looking cool in your cabby to going shopping with the family in tour estate And imho.....they still look good today. Yes everyone recognises them as old cars but they still have a look about them that i fond more attractive than lots of new cars today

Mad Mexico
Hit the nail on the head scottybo , I genuinely love it. its such a nice comfy car to drive every single day . I get plenty of looks and comments especially in the petrol stations , people think its a lot older than a 2000 model and comment on its great paint work. makes me smile every time. Yes, I wish it was more stable at high speed bends and the steering was more responsive and not as light. Yes I wish it was quicker and could chase the big boys. But there things that could be worked on I suppose so I'm a very happy bunny cruising around in my 'old escort' Don't really want to pull it off the road at winter but I suppose I should. We've got to look after them more than ever now days because their wont be any more made.
Paddy gti
only had the one car since garaging the escort .. mk3 mondeo ghia tdci .. regret the purchase slightly .. weekly flashing warning lights engine management lights which all lead to a cut in boost pressure which gets a bit interesting when it does it when your trying to overtake someone and suddenly you have little to no power .. have just given in trying to find the problem especially having found out that between 2011 and 2012 it was clocked by 90k miles from 165k to 75k so my decent mileage 120k mondeo is in fact up at 210k looks ok though http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee454/Superdream84/13620183_1374311732581108_5665052542986483956_n_zpswzlos09l.jpg
sidrick
Maybe a change of motor? Could explain both issues.

Paddy gti
should get an escort for the daily duties paddy I'd have loved to keep using the escort but the main reason I took her off the road was a string of vandalism on my way home from work gang of scrotes throwing bricks and wood at cars mine copped for it 3 times in a week it was gutting to see my hard work and my baby being wrecked
