i've been quoted £120 to fit an alarm :O

so how easy is it to do myself?

will be a TOAD AI606 and it will be second hand (from mk666escort)

anyone done it?

i want the central locking bit and i wouldn't mind total closure (mk666 has done these)

anyone that could help?

cheers :thumb:

i don't want it for the insurance discount.. i want it so that my car doesn't get stolne once i load it with goodies... also good way to get some cool accessories like remote locking :thumb:

an alarm aint gonna do that, if someone wants the car that bad, they'll have it somehow, i've had a car just picked up n removed in full (4 wheel lift) out of the car park without anyone seemingly seeing it or anything :nutter:

not too bad mate as long as its labeled up.

Ive fitted what would be a cat 1 clifford, and as said it dont matter if its got a cat 1 cert or not. my insurance company wouldnt do it any cheaper on a rsturbo with or without a cat 1, they said not to bother, so if it dont make a difference on a rst then on a normall escort it wont

Just fitted a Toad A101CL to mine mate - was going to be a Ai606, but decided to spend £60 rather than £120 (supply only new prices) as I wasn't going to have the certificate signed unless I paid more. Setting up ultrasonics, microwave & shock sensors with it, does remote CL (flashes and chirps), boot pop if I wire it in, intelligent rearm, anti-hijack etc etc. Might add a pager to it later on too.

Not very hard at all TBH - as long as you've got a Haynes for the wiring diagrams, can use a soldering iron and know how to get behind your dash (don't need the whole thing out, just stereos and main fascia from behind S/wheel) Took about a morning to do the alarm itself - I've just got the interior sensors left to sort, and they are just a plug in job. I think the Ai606 will be almost identical to fit, except you'll have black wires rather than colour coded. If you buy new, it won't be a problem - they'll have paper tags etc to ID the wires. If secondhand, the tags should be removed - so you might have a few days of fun with a multimeter first! :D
