M8 being harrassed

Scotteh

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

my m8 has a modded 206 and hes been pulled over, his car strip searched etc more times than i can count and the other day he was on his way to his m8s at 1am in the morn and the police were parked in an old petrol station on the other side of the road, so they drove down a bit, turned round and pulled him over saying he was speeding.....they sed they had to do 80 to catch up with him.....well my m8 was doing 40 in a 40 so that makes sense no? anyway hes alrdy got 3 points and if he gets 3 more he will lose his licence and job, so hes taking it to court cuz theres no photographic evidence.

then to top it all off a cpl days l8r he was driving home and he got pulled for going too slow!! and one of the policeman was 1 of the guys who pulled him for speeding.

now this to me is blatant harrassment and victimisation of modified cars.

wot wud u lot do?

Scotteh, IMO he needs to start keeping a diary, listing each date, time and location of each occasion he's stopped, anything that was said and keep a copy of any paperwork like producers etc. I would try to backdate it as far as the strip search if possible.

Where possible get the cuntstable's name, and the reg of the car.

If it continues, he should get some legal advice (u usually get one free consultation under legal aid), particularly as he's contesting the charge :thumb:

aye m8 he started doing that wen they stopped him 5 times in a week a while ago and they stopped pulling him cuz he told them hed take em to court for harrassment, but now they started doing it agen, so he does have records from a while ago but not v.recent ones :(

hes alrdy passed on this case to a solicitor and hes gonna check and see if he has a chance if he says not guilty, if he does have a chance hes gotta take out a personal loan of 1k to cover costs.....all cuz he drives a modded 206 :vangry:

He may have legal assistance in his home or car insurance. It's worth checking all the schedules as it often gets bunged in to boost the profit!

If he's in a union, they may have a legal team who would help too, particularly if his job is driving related. If he did win the claim he would be able to claim costs, and possibly compensation. The Solicitor should advise how likely he is to win or lose so that he can make a wise decision.

I would suggest a sensible letter to the Chief Constable, as this could get them to go softly-softly in future, but this can backfire and increase harrassment at a later stage. Good luck either way.

all i have to say is some cops out there have so little respect!

modders are people that put the money into something they love, not cannabis or heroin! god sake modders arent usually agressive ext!

best of luck to him! i hope the cop loeses his job over it!

id allways keep a recored!

my mate drives a rover 214 and has had 5 preducers he has kept a copy of them all because he is waiting for the day that they try and nick him for no reason!

its just because its not the sorta car a 18 year old would drive they pull him over and he never carries his lisence on him because he is a fool!!!!

some police have no respect for people who have a genuine love instead of drugs or drink!!!

i will be honest to get pulled he must be doing something wrong

in the 5 years i have been driving i have been pulled twice, both times for driving with no plate on the front

i have lived on the south coast, london, and now nottingham possibly the most unfair on modified cars police force in the world

my car isnt exactly shy and i dont get pulled anywhere i go, am i lucky or is it because i dont do anything wrong?

For the most part that is the case. But I got pulled for the first time in 20 years the other day.

I got out slowly and walked to the copper meeitng him halfway between the cars. (That way he couldn't stand over me in a position of authority)

In the friendliest voice I could muster, I said "Hi whaddye do?".

Apparently, I accelerated away quickly after turning left from the lights, and this is a "common evasion tactic". I didn't reply, and just gave him a quizzical look so he had to pick the next move.

He chose "Is this your car?", giving me the perfect chance to smile and say "Yeah, I do look a bit old for it, don't I". This seemed to relax him and he was less officious from then on. He had a quick walk round the car, asking a few friendly questions; had i done it all myself etc, and then asked If I had my licence.

I said "no" even though I knew I did (If he was planning a ticket it'd mean extra paperwork) He thought for a moment, then asked if I had any other ID, so I pulled out my chequebook and asked if that'd do!

The name must have cross checked with my reg no ( I assume they'd checked it as I was quite a way from the traffic lights) and he said "Ok, Sir. Thank you very much"

I think If I'd been in the age group of most of you, I'd have had a producer out of it, at least. So I do think it is an age thing.

Exactly what he should do, also check someone else hasn't reported him for dangerous driving etc, could be on their list of "watch out" cars etc.

Mine was after my number plates where stole, pulled 3 times in 4 hours one day, but it took 2 mins to sort out and at least they where looknig out for my car!

Happend last night, to me, yo need to make the 1st move it catches them off guard, i knew i was in the right so he coldnt do me for anything, He floowed me for ages i tried to lose him in a housing estate so he obviously was following me, so i just stopped my car got out and when he stopped behind asked why he was following me. his reason was there had been a load of "boy racers" in a local carpark causing trouble earlier. Was a total arse checking tyres etc, at which point i pulled the service book out, said to him look, ive got every reciept for everythnig ive ever had done to this car from new, I wasnt driving over the limit, ive not had a drink in the last 2 months, my car is legal, im not a boy racer.............im a car enthusiast, i dont apreciate this, on top of that im going o be late...............So he wrote me a producer out for being a cocky shite, he didnt like my tone lol.

no offense m8 but that aint true :)

they will pull u if they "feel" theres summit wrong, they dont have to have a good reason to pull u over but they do have to have a reason to do u for summit.

granted ppl get pulled and rightly so but u dont have to be doing anything wrong to be pulled over, the fact he has a modded car is good enuf for them. ive been with him once wen he got pulled over and tbh he was doing f*ck all wrong, we were chatting in his car going home 1 night a cpl months ago and just cuz they saw 2 "young lads" in a modded 206 they pulled us over.

my dad pulled over JK in his ferrari a few yrs ago cuz sum1 sed they saw sum1 who they thort "looked 2 young to be driving a ferrari", he wasnt doing anything wrong just minding his own business.
