BlairM
Had Arnold Clark Ford dealer on the phone to break the bad news to me. Says the car needs a mass air sensor, which will be £163 all inclusive (including diagnostic check). Technician said that it may either cure or just help the problem. If that don't fix it I'm looking at a cat, £279 for a Ford one, and £170 for a non - Ford cat. I told him to go ahead if he needs to do it, but dya think I got a good deal? BlairM
Hmmm. Is it the wee thingy thats on the exhaust downpipe ? Bit worried, cos the breakdown guy that came out last night thought it'd be the cat, the guy that came to take me to garage this morning said ignition, but Ford say the cat. But they should know. if i had had time to arrange it I'd have probs went somewhere else.
Mk6 Si Ross
thought the airflow sensor was the bit before the air filter end
foxdie
thought the airflow sensor was the bit before the air filter end thats what i thought it was. When i went to the scrappy to pick up the 2.0 throttle body i just pockets the Mass air thing, he was unaware. Didn't realise it was worth £100+
RickH
Just replaced my CAT, and humerously discovered all of the ceramic honeycomb had like rotted away, good job it had its MOT a while back

BlairM
Got my car back today for the sum of £239.71 That was Mass Air sensor, and Filter replaced. The cnuts also charged me for "taking CAT off for visual inspection" - that was £30 of the total! But never knew it was so down on power recently till I drove it again today - think they stuck a 2 litre in there Oh, and the wee inlet for the air to the filter fell off, just as well I saw it behind me. Does that wee fancy piece just slip onto the airbox or does it have a clip securing it on ? If it needs clip gonna chin them for that tomorrow.
