McRic
I want to upgrade from 512 to 1 gig, how do I know what RAM to buy and if my motherboard will cope with it, I got the system second hand so have no clue of the internals. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers
M4TT
need the manual or find the manufature of the mobo and find the online manual for there website, almost all mobos have online manuals as i've come across, the model number could be anywere on the motherboard and same for the compnays name. and your defo sure its got DDR and not SD-RAM??? DDR has on slot just of centre and is 184pins, SD-RAM as 2 slots on it and as 164 pins u will also have to find what spec the memory in there already, if its DDR, the u better get some of the same bus speed, DDR memory is measured like this PC2100, PC2300, PC3000 etc etc, so if urs is PC2100 make sure u get some of the same speed, try the same manufacture but still ok of from a different company. hope that helps
