ive been offered a c reg mk3 escort xr3i, lowered 60mm, pepperpot alloys, recaros and has had alot of work done on the engine which is currently putting out 140bhp, for £800. Im tempted to get it cos its an absolute minter but its not taxed, so no test drive . I would love to buy it but the insurance would be criminal, 's a shame cos i think its an absolute bargain

sounds tidy! Cant you drive it round a car park? or tell the buyer you will take it if they tax it and it drives ok

If your 21, get her on classic insurance as your secondary car.

 

Also, 140 bhp from the engine sounds unlikely unless its running twin webbers etc.

I had a mk4 xr3i efi when i was 16, insured it after a year of driving at 18 and it cost me 1650TPFT. And that was low on 17's, scorpian exhaust, air filter etc etc

theyve gotta like you then kev dont matter now tho cos i dont have to go there again

i almost snapped up a mint mk4 xr3i the other week but a mate of mine beat me to it,

 

 

the car was so clean it was unreal and he got it for £175 - purely cos the guy had nowhere to put it cos of his other track car!!
