Ok, this can happen at any time, usually about one in every 10 times i come to start it.

I have a CVH 1.4 single point injection:

Every so often I will go to the car and it just will not start, battery's fine, starter motors fine, engines turning over, but it's just not firing, maybe something to do with the distributor or fuel, but I ain't a mechanic, could anyone tell me what the problem may be? Even the local garage is mythed about this one because when it gets there by toe, it decides to start (even though i had been trying for about half an hour)

Also the car will stall sometimes (if it starts) when coming to junctions, however, it will re-start if the engine has just stalled (still warm)

Have been thinking about cleaning the ICV, but not sure if this will solve the problem, any help would be really great, thanks.

Has no one got even a slight suggestion!?

yers might have an idea (right under your inlet manifold at rear the is a cold start switch the connector is white and i think it the only switch under the manifold).

Try changing that and tell how you get on only cost few pound and really easy to change.

Ok mate, thanks, I'll have to have a look tomorrow to see if i can see what you're talking about.
does yours have a seperate distributor? my dad had same problem so i checked the spark plugs and gapping, tested the HT leads and poped the dissi of and the contacts in it had got surface rust. i used a little emory paper and cleaned the 4 contacts and the rotor arm. starts straight away. hope it helps
