Posted August 2, 200420 yr Basically, 1.6 engine is far to slow for me lol! Whereas all my mates have taken hefty loans out for what they want i'm trying to do it the safe way and not get in any dept (or as little as possible). I've got a 1.6 finesse! I've got the full system exhaust and air filter but then realised i'm not really guna get that much out of it! I did have a chip and power valve lined up but it's not relaly guna do what i want i think! I've got a mate that can pick me up a 1.6 RS turbo engine for around £450 and that'l be a lot quicker then! But i've heard a 2.0l mondeo engine would be the best idea? Because i could tune it up and get more speed out of it! + it's pretty cheap! At the moment i have next to no money, so lets say i'm starting from scratch! What would be the best idea for me which would be pretty cheap (state rough price). Anyone that can help, please let me know and post all your views and thoughts! + if anyone knows of a mondeo forum, let me know please! Nice one ladies!
August 2, 200420 yr As per MSN mate, if you want 1.8 beating speed cheap i'd drop a 2.0 mondeo zetec in there - you'll pick it up pretty cheap at a scrappy, and it makes 130bhp without a turbo Its also a much newer engine than an RST, and you can always turbo the 2.0 in the future for big power when you have the £££
August 2, 200420 yr start 1.6 u done all u can, nothing u can do that wont be a waste of money on a small engine, 16. tubo i think does not fit a mk6 escort as a mk6 is electronic injection and the 1.6 wasnt im not sure(someone say so) rs2000 or the 2.0 mondeo are the best options but the easyest to get hold of is the mk1 mondeo 2.0 ltr engine m8y find a rear ended mk1 mondeo with little as possible miles on and its more or less a stright swap for less haslle that what ido and that what on my planns for end of this year
August 2, 200420 yr sorry to nick ya thread mate, but how much is a 2.0ltr mondeo engine, for a decent 1and how much work and cash is involved in putting it in?
August 2, 200420 yr I would buy a faster car, dont mess about with engines too much! But thats just my opinion
August 2, 200420 yr Author I would buy a faster car, dont mess about with engines too much! But thats just my opinion I know what your saying but my next car is going to be a focus cossie! A shite lot of money i know and a long wait but that WILL be my next car! If for some reaso not, i'll end up gettin a skyline i think! Thats a good 3 or 4 years away tho! Anyway, yea, dean-o, i asked that anyway! How much for a desent mondeo 2.0l engine? I have no idea! I've been told could be as cheap as £200?
August 2, 200420 yr Author focus cossiewere u buying that from then???? I did say ... Thats a good 3 or 4 years away tho! Should be out by then! [edit] I've just been told that a 2.0l mondeo engine wouldn't fit my powerflow exhaust system, so i'd have to get that modded aswell!!! Hassle lol! Edited August 2, 200420 yr by TEMPER
