Been a while since I was last on, huh? Well, since I was last here, not much has changed other than that I actually got my finger out on Sunday and spent time washing AND POLISHING my car. probably a one-off though!

 

Anyhoo, for about a month now, the thing has been misfiring when it's warm. Ever since I had the timing belt changed at Ford. They kindly took it back and rechecked the timing (I thought it could be out) and it seems to be kosher (they showed me themselves, i work near the ford garage, you see?).

 

So after feeling a bit of wiring was to blame (and also after suspecting the EGR valve), I've come to decide the injectors are faulty. Given that loosening #4 leaves the car running 3 cylinders and with no cough, loosening 2 & 3 leaves it running 3 cylinders and a cough and loosening 1 makes it stall, my theory is #4 is to blame. Now, if my dad wouldn't have interfered, i'd have removed number four and cleaned it, but he's taken them out and handed them to LSUK to get some exchange ones at a cost of £100!!! Mind you, they're due it. Fordy injectors are only good for 100,000 miles and mines has done 135,500+ and they seem to be original injectors.

 

I've other work to do on the car now as well. I'm gonna spend time tidying up the rather messy wiring in the engine compartment and I've a bit of rust to clean up, as well as refitting the dirt catcher under the screenwash bottle seeing as I didn't when i changed the pump (that packed in too. Got one from a scappy for £3+VAT. Different part number, same pump externally, but it seems to work better!!). What else? Tidy out the inside. The boot has half a ton of sand in it courtesy of the beach at Bamburgh, near Berwick-upon-Tweed.

 

Here's something to make you weep. Since getting the car in late feb this year and putting it on the road in March with 122,000. That's a whopping 13,500 miles in a matter of 5 months. I'm heading, right now, for 30k a year at this rate!

 

Anyway, nothing much else has happened with the car. Gonna ask a question to you guys, but i'll put it in a poll.
