My cars got a LSD. Now other than meaning my car is off its head on stamp shaped acid. i was wondering what it actually means I know it stands for Limited slip deffirential but i not sure how it works, or actually what it does, all i do know is that my car is incredibly hard to wheel spin which i thought was unussual for a 250bhp car, and if i turn the steering wheel 1 quater turn and boot it i end up facing the other direction with my face smeared against the passenger window.

Mine has an LSD as well.

 

All I know is that RWD cars with them are alot easier to get the back out on!

 

I know RST S2 have them as well.

i had one on my s2 and have one on the orion, wheels can still spin if you try to foxdie?

An LSD is designed o prevent the complete loss of drive that occurs with a conventional differential when one wheel slips. Whilst requiring some torque in the slipping wheel, the LSD is progressive in action but never locks - controlled power is transmitted to all the driving wheels. Ideally suited to high powered front wheel drive systems. LSD's are also used in rear and four wheel drive vehicles where optimum traction is required. Sets of floating helical gear pinions mesh to provide the normal speed differential action. In the event of wheel slip, torque bias is generated by the axial and radial thrusts of the pinions in the pockets. The resultant friction force enables the driving road wheel and sun-gear to transmit a greater proportion of torque. This effect is progressive but at no stage does the differential lock solid, hence the inherant safety of the LSD.

basically, it stops one wheel from having all the power when it looses grip, because thats the easiest route for the power to go. so it transfers some power to the other wheel to gain forward motion......i think

Ive got an LSD in mine, but mine spins in fookin 3rd!! LOL
