Right the other day, i was driving along, and noticed a distinct lack of bass, turns out, my sub wasnt working.

When i checked it all out, i couldnt understand why

- I checked the wires behind the HU, they were all connected and accounted for

- I checked the fuses, they were fine

- I checked the amp, its ok, theres power to it, as the red light comes on, for when its protecting the amp when the powers goin to it but not goin out

- I checked the wiring from the amp to the sub, couldnt find a problem

- I checked + changed the earth, still no success

Can anyone please offer any suggestions as to what might be the cause of this ? :(

maybe the amps getting too hot and cutting out? is it not working ful stop, or now and again?

well, it worked perfectly, up until about 3 days ago, since then, iv had no joy with it at all

the sub has probebly just died it can happen :(

tried running it off the head unit straight it could be a wire maybe?

Hi mate, just found this sight. "Black wire rot" as it is called is a comon problem with many sub and amp malfunctions. check also for contacts touching from the amp up to the sub. another one is to test your phono leads. i've just installed a system into my mate car and her pulled the phones too had and they broke inside. another one to check is if the phono's have got traped cause then the phono's are shot at. hope anything helps and sorry for bad spelling. john
