I sold the Scoob over the weekend and just wondered what I'm supposed to do about the registration. It went with the car as part of the sale so do I need to transfer the ownership of the reg as you do with the car via the V5 ?(

Would be good to know cos the Beemer has a private plate aswell and I'd like to know what paperwork to expect ?(

The plate has gone with the car but according to the DVLA my old man still 'owns' the plate ?(

I think it just goes with the car.

Unfortunatly the DVLA 'owns' all registrations which is why they can take it off you if you space it illegaly X(

The plate belongs to what ever name is registered on the log book. So when you get the log book back in your name for the BMW then the plate thats on it is yours. (legally to use anyway.)

This also applies to the one on the car sold, once registered in the new keepers name, its legally thiers even if it wasn't part of the sale, the only way you would get it back is if the new owner was nice enough to give it to you. if you tried this legally you won't get it.

This also works if your car gets writen off, unless prior arrangement, if the insurance company pay out on the car, then the plate is there's (so check this with your Co')
