Posted August 16, 200420 yr Personally, I think scrappy's are brilliant places! As I just said in another topic, I managed to get a pretty much brand new brake drum and wheel bearings for my car for a fiver. That was after spending £50 getting wheel bearings, then fitting them in the pissing rain on a sunday so i could drive from here to Aberdeen on the sunday evening for an exam on the Monday morning. That's a 180 mile drive on new wheel bearings which i'm not sure will work or not. As it turned out, when i got to Aberdeen, I discovered the drum was guttered out, so new wheel bearings didn't make much difference! So the car got left on Axle stands while I got a lift to a scrappy for a drum. Luckily he had a K-reg orion 1.8 Zetec in. I pinched the drum off that. Nearly new! Wish I took the other side though. My spoiler. £75 for a REPLICA in various adverts in Fast Ford. £15 from my local scrappy. Rear bumper (Mine is tatty and I cracked it by reversing into a Tranny), £20. WHITE too, don't need painting! For someone like me on a tight budget, they're a good place. Keeping my eye out for a scort with lexus lights on it, i'll whip them off in a hurry! Saw a Lemon Paxo (Citroen Saxo) with lexus lights on it. What about you lot? Scrappys: Heaven or Hell? -T PS The Lemon Paxo thing. Citronne is french for Lemon. Citronne and Citroen sound similar, and Paxo rhymes with Saxo, so it becomes a Lemon Paxo. Clever, huh? See, I ain't just ugly!!
August 16, 200420 yr love scrappers, only problem is no Escorts in 'em LOL, seen one mk5b and 3 mk5s in all my time at em
August 16, 200420 yr yeh there plkay but boring round my end. theres a brand new ford ka which looks scrapped as it left the showroom, a 1.9 tdi golf burnt a shell mostly, there was a escort cabby mk5 with a LEATHER recaro interior the lot, get the paxo lights and sell em on ebay.
August 16, 200420 yr Author Jesus, mine has loads of them! Went in for a spoiler off one, and took a brake light off another one. I think there was about 5 or 6 MK6 models in there all together. All being broken for spares. OK, most of them were M/N reg but the brake light came off an S-reg! Escort MK6s are getting to that age where they're cheap bangers now. That's all mine was though it still looks pretty good. Maybe with a private plate no-one will can tell it's a '95 model. Might even think it's a '00 model -T
August 16, 200420 yr Author BTW, it looks better now than it did in the pic. It's been cleaned and polished a few times. I've also got the towing eye cover now, and have sorted out all the rust on the car. Need to replace the front passenger door and I'm laughing (it's slightly bashed on the rear window frame bit. Dunno how it's bashed there, but it is!). Oh yeah, meant to say, there's loads of Mondy's in the scrappys near me. Probably because no-one drives old cars round here anymore. they're all buying new because it's so easy to do that now! Free insurance and finance mean an easy fast track to new car ownership. All the old ones have moved on to other places I think. Some days I find it hard to spot a letter prefix registration, they're all the new style ones! all SN51 and SK53 and SL04 etc. etc.
August 16, 200420 yr theres about 10 mk5s,mk5bs. xr3is,cabbys the lot in mine bloody hell mate. fair play. there aint any round my scrappys. They are all crap old bangers like renault 5s and stuff. Where abouts are ya?
August 16, 200420 yr aint enough round here, i want a mk5 drivers door in white and mk6 sallon rear bumper in white
August 16, 200420 yr went to mine today, we have a street with just 8 scrappies in it nothing else!! there must be 40 escorts in there!! all shapes, 3dr, 5dr, mk5, mk5b, mk6, estates, orions everything!! tis ace!! love em
August 16, 200420 yr Author Could probably find the drivers door no problem. Only thing is, MK6 Escort Saloons aren't all that common here, it's all hatchbacks. Even the estates are pretty thin on the ground. The estate and Saloon back bumpers are the same, aren't they? -T
August 16, 200420 yr Author will have the same engine as mine. Might have to nick it :-P Just kidding. Need to sort mine out though, got a bloody misfire when ticking over when it's hot and I can't work out what's causing it. Down on power too, Think it's an electrical problem. Dunno what electrical is causing it though. When it's cold it's fine! that's the part telling me it's electrical and not the pump to blame... -T
