Posted August 17, 200420 yr This weeks project is to tidy up the arches from all that evil metal worm. I have started sanding down the nasty bits to see how much metal is left but the bits just keep falling out This is my progress so far The hole on the left i thought was a bit of surface rust collapsed when i prodded it so it started badly but i hope it does not get any worse I will bring you more updates as they happen
August 17, 200420 yr Author Thats most of the loose and flakey rust gone should be all good metal now. Am going to use some Kurust on the edges of the metal though just in case. This time I am going to use filler over them and see if it holds up. I can always do them again later just need something done before the winter sets in and makes them worse
August 17, 200420 yr Author There we go fillers on and just a bit more rubbing down to go then its all ready for painting.
August 17, 200420 yr i fookin love bodywork jobs im currently filling dent in on wing of my fezzy trouble is it looks like someone dropped 10kilo of flour on my car and street after i sanded it back i gotta do one bubble on my sill and my back rear passenger arch, you minds aswell just cut the arch lips off on the inside. oh and kurust is a joke , it dont work, once theres rust in a metal you need to cut away i think its 2 - 3cm from the affected area to stop it rusting again, sanding it back to shiny metal and then slappin that salmon brown kurust shite on aint gonna work, it will come back within 2 months. ive just got to get the seam of my wing welded back on, and fill the sill where the car fell off the ford jack and my tailgate, gotta love fords

August 18, 200420 yr Good luck with it mate, hopefully it will stay away Are you gonna spray it yourself?
August 18, 200420 yr Author Kurust has worked for me in the past and my Dad used it alot when he had an old ruster I will spray it myself when all this rain goes In my opinion I can try it doing it all my self and if it does not work i have not spent loads on it so can take it to a pro but if it does all work then bonus Thats what this car is for to try doing everything myself because if i mess it up parts are cheap to replace.
