well i today i spent sorting out replacing the brake adjusters and a wheel bearing, all was going well, did 1 side fine, then it rained, so a cpl hrs l8r wen it stopped i went to finish the other side, started to unbolt the drum and 1 of the heads snapped off of the screw :censored: not a prob, others came off fine, put it on work bench to replace the bearing, now i found a nut retainer on there, which had to be broke to get at the nut (obviously) only there were 4 small nuts instead of 1 big 1 ?( dunno if this is right....anyway took them off and took bearing out, went to put replacement in....saw it and thort "thats too big" tw*t garage has only given me the wrong bearing :vangry: so i put it all bak as best as i cud just to get it onto the drive, now i cant drive it cuz A no retainer B old bearing still there and C one screw is broke, now i dont wanna risk owt so gotta wait till monday/tuesday.

to say im p*ssed off wud be an understatement, but then agen it happens :(

just thort id share my fun for the day with ya lol :thumb:

my rear wheel bearings went on my car not too long ago.

Changed them OK, but I drove to Aberdeen with the car the next day (180 mile trip). Got there, jacked the car up and realised the wheel was almost hanging off. Went to a scrappy for a new drum, got the bearings too, for £5. Not a bad result. The drum was actually off a MK5 Orion 1.8 Ghia, but they're both the same! Lucky for me too, it was a brand spanking new drum (no wear AT ALL), and the bearings looked new to me as well. Definately a good result!

Basically, if my other side goes, i'll just buy a new brake drum and new bearings. Don't want the same hassle all over again (though I doubt it will, the only reason one side failed was because someone took the drum off to change the shoes and didn't put the grease cap back in. So the thing ran dry!)
