My mate has got a 1.8 zetec out of an escort, its only covered 500 miles. Due to the car losing it backend. Poor escort ;( . The engine was to go in his brothers GTi, the previous woman owner of the GTi did not know what oil was. Blue smoke all the time.

He ended up getting some random bloke to do a 2.0 conv and pipercams. 1 of the cams snapped and the other is scored and putting metal in oil. The car still runs on the 1.8 ecu, runs a lot better than it did 4 months ago.

How do you tell what bhp it is?

Codes on engine? if so where?

Or is it just the ecu that makes the 15bhp difference?

BTW whats a good price for the engine cause its mint. 300? 350?

Cheers

well you can buy a brand new 2.0 ltr zetec from ford for around £600 I think (Mike C will correct me if im wrong). The only 130bhp 1.8s were out of the XR3i Mk5s and the Cabriolets again I think. If it was out of another GTI or SI or something its more likely to be a 115bhp.

Hope this helps

I have to say though mate, yours is the nicest looking GTI I have personally seen :thumb:

cheers mate, it's awesome to hear things like that, Fast Ford told me the same too! :thumb:

gotta mainly thank "Pete" and "K3V HA" for that tho, but there's plenty more still to come! ;)
