John16v
what kind of mods can be done to 2.0 pinto engines? ideally it would run weber 45's after a few other power increaseing mods? any help appreciated thanks john
Ex-Finesse
You'll be lucky to get above 200bhp with a pinto. I think a Pinto is one of the engines which has very large valves as standard, which is why it responds well when twin 45's are bolted on! I think that will give about 150bhp on a good condition engine. I believe it was even available as a tick-box option on the Escort mk2 RS2000........ Depends how much power you want. Much more than 150 and you're looking at a rebuild and worked internals. Lee is probably the best person to ask here, given he had a 190bhp pinto in a mk2. John16v
i was thinking cam, pulley, possibly pistons as i read in burton power that with a 205 block it can accept bigger pistonns?
Ex-Finesse
Well of course it's possible with loadsa money thrown at it..... I was merely saying 200bhp requires a lot of work As it's a kit car, I'd try 45's, a mild cam and a decent exhaust. Then if you want more get the bottom end rebuilt to handle higher revs and a wilder cam.
Mike C
if u know what ur doin', thses are much easier/ cheaper to work on than engines such as the Zetec

Think there's about 5 stages to choose from. Exhaust, you want a decent 4-1 manifold and system. Think Ashley may be worth a try. Have a look what other owners with a Pinto'd kit car have done
