Orion Si
no way are you goin to fit 4x15" subs on the boot, unless you taking the rear seats out
sortedford
Hi mate, wounderd where u were, i would think your goin to be very hard pushed to fit all that in the boot, as you wont be able to have the right size boxes, are you able to take the rear seats out?if not its going to have to be a fairey simple design imo to get the most from the space in your boot. Orion Si
the best thing to do is to take the rear seats out. i was goin to do this but then i got a 5 door
sortedford
Astra mate, that shouldnt stop ya just cos its a 5 door This is summat like i would prob go for, as this will maximise the boot space cos imo youll need it all. a subs would be facing the back, 2 facing the seat, the box would be split into 4 sections inside it with the amps n stuff on the top
cossie rep
you will be a bit pushed to get 4x15" subs in the bac of there mate
ipswich_escort
cheers lads ian, i like your idea, but would the two subs closest to the seats be able to move enough? - i haven't been on the board lately cus my work now monitor internet activity to untilise the boot i'm thinking of taking the selves on either side of the boot ( the ones that hold the rear speakers ) and starting the build from that height down. would this give me enough space to do something fancy
cossie rep
or you could have a false floor raised a bit and gave two in the false floor and 2 upright just a thought mate
ipswich_escort
thats a good idea m8 - then if two are on the floor i could slop the other two speakers from either side of the boot so they all meet in the middle cheers for that cossie rep
sortedford
Yeh it should do, you would need to leave about a gap of 1 n half inces mate, or how ever much your subs say they move. I thik that would be the best way honestley as u need all the room for the subs. another way would be to fit the amps where i drew the subs and have all 4 subs in the top, build it so its just lower than where the parcel shelf is then you can hide it all.You could make a parcel shelf with nothing in it but the frame (and a few supports) and cover it in a thin material, then people wouldnt be able to see the subs, but would sound realy good
sortedford
forgot to say, if you done it like i said in the pic, and left the bit of room for the movement you can always put the back seats down when there not needed and itll look and sound good
ipswich_escort
cheers again for the ideas - i now need to go home do some measuring and see how its all going to work. cossie rep
also mate to get it sounding better it is worth investing in some dynamat to stop the vibrations from the chassis this will prevent any unrequired noise that isnt coming from the subs and make it sound much better
ipswich_escort
where can you get this dynamit stuff from ? - cus i was thinkin of using some house insulation foam ( fibre glass stuff)
sortedford
Its good to use house insulation in the tailgate, thats what ive done cos u cant get musch other stuff in there
