GTsI
i have recently had 125 mph out of mine with 3 people in the car (including myself) and then i put it in 5th so rough estimation is around 135 to 140 engine mods - fully de-catted, magnex full system, pipercross induction kit, magnecour performance plug leads. Chris_B
To be honest i got 17's in june and i really didn't notice much difference in acceleration, as most people say that you lose some, But i find that it gets to higher speeds loads easier than on the standard 15's

And i'll say it again, those who choose to use NOS for any length of time sitting at 5000-6000 rpm won't have their engine long!!!!
Wez
so does the speedo read higher at top end then??

sortedford
if you have the normall wheels and the speedo says 70, then your ok, but if you have 17s its more like
Colin
Humm, well ive had 128 on my speedo outta my 1.4, but that was with my brand new gearbox about 3 months ago, but she took a while to get past 120! Now i know the cars about 5mph off on the speedo thanks to the DOE (local enviroment people) now having placed a portable speed reading machine that displays your speed in huge red letters about 2 miles from my house..................... So I reckon 123 mph is dam good for a 1.4 Escort thats standard!
JonC
I played with one of them speed display things whilst in Devon in july The thing said your current MPH and just after was a speed cameraif u were going to fast it would say SLOW DOWN and flash you if you didnt I covered the camera lens late at night and got 98mph through itthe sign only displayed 2 digits so anymore would proberbly not been possible ive also noticed the local tescos here has got number plate recognition on the entrance and it displays your plate and says your being recorded if u wanna beat the number plate reckognition thoughall u gotta do is go through with Full Beams on and even fogs if u have them the thing cant read with all that light shining at it..
