Colin
Ive said it before and i will say it again............. 2.0 litre focus engine from the Zetec model. Group 8 insurance 130 bhp to start off with The engine will be at most 3 years old and it will fit in the escort with fap all problems, and your looking around 650 for the engine down a scrappers from a write off, and then 800 for fitting. Tell you mate, its the way forward, and casue the engine in your car's a zetec, there will be a lot few problems with regards engine mounts etc! Trust me, try enquiring about this mate......... You can easily get 200 bhp out of it naturally aspirated depending on how much you wanna spend!
cossie rep
£650 for a focus engine that is a lot of money from a scrappy, Near me they sell 2.0ltr for £250-300 (pending on the mileage) and 1.8 gti engines for about £150-225 (pending on the mileage). Colin
Yea, but dont forget if you are wanting to turbo it etc, then you already have lots of companies offering aftermarket turbo parts for the focus, thats along the lines I was thinking if Pelles is going to go the turbo route....... Personally I agree, I can get my hands on a Mondeo engine for around about £250 in good condition........ and the rest of the car of around about 750 ish Seriously though, as ian said, thats what i would agree with! Lee R
..............and it's only group 8 insurance if still fitted in the Focus!!!
Pete
I agree with Lee. Normally with an engine transplant the premium will be based on the donar car, because the engine is normally a higher spec one. But I cant see insurance companies lowering my premium if I put in a 2 litre lump

Colin
Right, im a bit dim with regards throttle bodies, what do they do? Do they replace your current injector set up and allow for more fuel to be pumped into the main cumbustian chamber or what?

Do they replace your current injector set up and allow for more fuel to be pumped into the main cumbustian chamber or what? Yep, that's exactly what they do. They're a bit thirsty though, and I think there might be some emissions problems come MOT time, anyone confirm this?
Colin
YAY! I rule! I clearly should have been a car fixer bloke! So tell we then, are Weber things then somethnig similar to throttle bodies, or are they the same thing essentially?
